It should be possible task to generate several outputs. Dependencies should be able to be run on parallel on those outputs or merge them.

task1: task2
task2[a, b, c]:
    cmd = echo (step)

could be equivalent to

task1: task2a task2b task2c
task2a:
    cmd = echo a
task2b:
    cmd = echo b
task2c:
    cmd = echo c
