I'm still the "maintainer" of the Excel2LaTeX VBA Addin. It converts a formatted Excel table to LaTeX, preserving (among others) text markup, merged cells, borders, and rotation. It looks like this is easy enough to reimplement using linen?

Slightly related: Do you plan to support LibreOffice files?
