It appears that because of this issue MySQL 5.7 must be used.
This is reflected in the corresponding sample Docker Compose file.

Since MySQL 5.7 is going end of support in October 2023 and there is still no good solution to the above issue, should a different DB be the default recommendation and the documentation amended accordingly?

Using mysql:latest works for me (linux/arm64, 2be51594eba5, MYSQL_VERSION=9.1.0-1.el9) well in our example compose setup. Can someone confirm?
