LDAP and ActiveRecord have different extra_attributes

If I use LDAP by configure cas.yml , attribute of extra_attributes use string as key in my database, But using ActiveRecord, is Symbol? just like
ldap: extra_attributes: {'test' => 'xxx'}
activerecord: extra_attributes: {:test => 'xxx'}
