Hi, I was told on Reddit that this is likely the best place to ask for such Windows "patches" or "mods". Also, I don't know any developer ready to write them, not even paying :( So this is my last attempt :( I have been googling around for quite some time, but strangely enough nobody (AFAIK) ever thought of writing patches to fix these two very annoying Windows "bug-features".
the nasty so-called "snapback" effect, i.e when you drag a scrollbar too much over its either initial or end limits, at some point it "snaps" or "jumps" back to the position it had before grasping it. Standing to some, this would rather be a "feature" but most people including me simply judge this very very annoying, and there is (apparently) no registry value or third party "hack" to fix it. And it affects all Windows versions AFAIK, from XP and likely even before up to Win11. This would be really a good chance to have it fixed once for all !!!
when the mouse pointer is located inside a window or element which can be scrolled only horizontally (i.e an Explorer or text editor window showing only a horizontal scrollbar but not a vertical one), moving the mouse wheel causes the content to be scrolled horizontally, which is also very annoying and counter intuitive. Unfortunately, setting the Registry value WheelScrollChars to zero has no effect, since the system seems to always clamp this value to >=1. Even here, I am not aware of any patch or hack to prevent this.
I close adding that Microsoft should really have added some settings to prevent these behaviors, it makes no sense that they never did !!! They really have a very strange concept of Ergonomics, which seems more about frustrating users.
In case any developer out there, even unrelated to the present project, is willing to write some patches for the problems above, in particular for the first one, I am ready to pay, no jokes. Also, it would be a great opportunity for him to do something very useful for the community of Windows users and which nobody (strangely enough) did yet !!!
I thank in advance anyone who will consider my request seriously.
