Hello!

Trying to install bioptim with conda install conda-forge::bioptim on an Apple Silicon Mac results in a PackageNotFoundError.

Since Apple will not release x86 computers anymore, there should be a package for osx-arm64 to support future Mac users.

Hi there,
We tried, but ran out on multiple problems doing so, mainly caused by the multiple libraries biorbd relies upon... As far as I know, it is possible to compile everything by hand, but I could not make it work on conda. If you have insight on how to do it, you are welcome to have a try (https://github.com/conda-forge/biorbd-feedstock)! Not having a Mac myself actually complicates things..

If you want, we can do a visio to help you install ;)

I was asking for a colleague, I don't have a Mac (therefore, I can't easily try to fix it either...).

I tried however to help him install Bioptim manually but stopped when biorbd_casadi was also not available for osx-arm. I didn't have time to also try to build biorbd from source at that moment. I am familiar with building biorbd and bioptim after implementing the free floating base dynamic in summer 2022 ;)

What would be the gotcha's when building on osx-arm?

There is no gotcha per se, it is just that not everyone knows how to build the sources. Otherwise, it is pretty straight forward :)
