Description
The type of finance shows whether the activity is a grant, loan, export credit or debt relief. This can be either at the activity or transaction level, and is only expected if the activity is at least in the implementation phase.

2013 Index tests

default-finance-type or transaction/finance-type exists (if activity-status/@code is at least 2)?

Issues

No issues have been identified.

Questions

  1. Should the code of a finance-type have to conform to the IATI finance type codelist?

2014 Index test
We are not planning to change this test in 2014, unless feedback suggests there is a strong case for doing so.

Finance type is only of use if it conforms with the CRS (not IATI) codelist.

For 2014

In addition to the 2013 test, we will add a new test, to assess whether the default-finance-type/@code or transaction/finance-type/@code is on the IATI FinanceType codelist.

Notes

  • While some of the codelists referred to are maintained by other organisations, "IATI" is used as a shorthand for the codes available through the IATI Standard website and IATI APIs.
