The message feature allows direct messages using the @ sign with a specific person's official Princeton handle. This may present a problem if we want to message someone and know their name (or role, such as to message the curator), but don't know their handle.
User Story
Lilavati, a researcher in mathematics, has submitted a dataset to the repository. A curator has returned a message for Lilavati and she can see the curator's name is Sarah. However, she cannot directly message Sarah to return correspondence without knowing Sarah's Princeton handle. The system does allow her to look up a handle from a limited listing, but it doesn't show an associated name. This frustrates her as she simply wants to respond to Sarah's message.
Image shows current message feature (note the @ Princeton handles)
Considerations for changes
Users should be able to directly message a member of a curatorial team (main collection) or reviewer (PPPL) especially when someone has directly messaged them first.
