Should We Include a Dark/Light Theme Switcher for the Website?

As we continue to enhance the user experience for our website, one feature that could provide a more personalized experience is a dark/light theme switcher. This feature would allow users to toggle between light and dark modes, catering to their preferences and potentially improving usability in different lighting conditions.

Pros:

• User Preference: Allows users to choose their preferred theme, which can enhance overall satisfaction.
• Accessibility: Dark mode can reduce eye strain, especially in low-light environments, while light mode might be more suitable for bright conditions.
• Modern UI Trend: Many popular websites and applications offer a theme switcher, aligning with current design trends.

Cons:

• Increased Development Time: Implementing and maintaining two themes could add complexity to the project.
• Performance Impact: Depending on implementation, it might introduce additional overhead.
• Consistency Issues: Ensuring that both themes look polished and consistent across all pages might require more design effort.

Questions for Discussion:

1. Do you think a theme switcher would significantly improve the user experience?
2. Should we prioritize this feature, or should it be considered a low-priority enhancement?

Hi @sakharesoham, below are my suggestions

1. Add header with logo, menu items for both light and dark themes
2. Add a theme switcher button (suitable icon) in the header to switch between the themes
3. Add 'Move to Top' button when user scrolls down the website. Ideally this should be added in bottom right section but only be visible when user scrolls down
4. Revise the content and only add the content which we need in the website. For example, Students Enrolled widget is not required.
5. Is there any way to visualize the mock-ups for mobile layout?
