Hi PMLG,
I attended my first meetup for this group on Thursday and I thoroughly enjoyed it - thanks to everybody that put in the effort to make that happen.
I wasn't sure exactly what sort of feedback or submissions you are chasing under this topic, but I had three points that I think are worth raising:
You are very likely aware of this already, but the proposed AI Act of the EU is interesting reading, and in my opinion is heading in the right direction in terms of regulation for AI (https://artificialintelligenceact.eu/)
I have a concern generally about governments' ability to respond to technological changes with meaningful regulation, in a timely manner. For a field that is changing as quickly as this, I am doubtful that the Australian government will be able to introduce any meaningful regulation in the timeframe in which the regulation would be useful and relevant.
As an entrepreneur, I would hate to see poorly thought out regulations being imposed on the field of AI specifically in Australia, to our detriment commercially in a global market.
Regards,
Dave Taylor
