I've long since wondered about the transformer model. It's supposed to have an iron core in its model while the inductor is an air core model. Yet, the transformer model is difficult to envision how to translate it into a real world build which behaves, in all cases, equivalent to the simulated model.
My latest guess is that it may be equivalent to two inductors with a short between them. Here are three examples...

Of course, none of these even remotely come close to modeling Paul Falstad's transformer, but I keep trying...!
