Wordpress alignment classes not respected?

Recently noticed that wordpress alignment classes (aligncenter, alignright ...), that get applied when editing content in its wysiwigs, were not getting respected. An inspection revealed that the margin value was the cause. It did not hae a unit value (rem, px, ...) .
