hi,
What would be great is that while we keep pressing ALT + TAB, cycling through the windows of a workspace,
we could additionally press PAGE UP or DOWN (or SHIFT), and then in parallel rows
other workspaces' window icons would show up....
Having 5 workspaces would mean 5 parallel rows of window icons...
With page up or down (or perhaps up and down arrows, too), we could navigate from one workspace' row to another's...
If we left this "screen" (the window icons) by pressing ESC while still holding down ALT,
next time one one row would appear, that of the current workspace...
leaving this screen normally, by selecting a window icon and releasing ALT, would mean that the next time we press ALT+TAB,
all workspaces would be there in rows...
THE GOAL:
when you have to jump from one application to another repeatedly (more than once :)),
but you don't want to rearrange your workspaces,
it's a PIA that you press ALT+TAB and realize that the desired app window will not be reachable without jumping to that workspace...
I think this would be a great addition...
as long as it's only making thins simpler and cleaner, not adding any difficulty or even complexity...
Having all the window icons in just one row is not making things simpler... not to mention cleaner :)
But it was a good first step, and is a great direction
+ a NOTE:
Coverflow 3D
With the wonderful Coverflow 3D, too, this improvement could be (logically) implemented in some ways...
For example:
Indicating the number of the current (viewed, active) workpace's number...
plus making it possible, pressing an additional key while ATL still being pressed to jump over to another workspace at once...
