We have a number of GitHub Actions workflows that run when code is pushed to GitHub but they can be slow and feedback on the ongoing work is delayed.
A complementary tool are commit hooks that run a more minimal set of checks, and/or reformatting steps locally, before even creating the commit.
They can be a good tool to reduce frustration due to, e.g., spellchecking, styling, etc.
