I am opening issue #56 based on the assumption that many designers are not familiar at all with Github's organization of issues (and tags) and might feel overwhelmed when landing on a project's GitHub home page (Code). We can help them by giving them more information while being on contribute.design pages. |

FTR, issues #59, #60, #61, and #62, also opened based on the opportunities described in this discussion. |

In past and recent Hacktoberfest events (2022, 2023, 2024), we organized “designers’ tracks” where designers from diverse roles collaborated to contribute to existing OSS projects or create new ones. A common pattern emerged during these explorations: designers were often unfamiliar with OSS projects, tools, and practices. They struggled with where to start, how to explore opportunities, and how to identify where they could add value. Even when they found something, the process felt overwhelming.
We discovered that these challenges are prevalent within the design community worldwide. This friction led us to explore digital solutions, so we conducted a series of product workshops to set a vision, define opportunities, and ideate potential solutions. While we only scratched the surface, we compiled all the insights onto this board, which serves as a foundation for further exploration and development: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVNXgYMxU=/?share_link_id=717810438657
During our exploration, we found that the “contribute-design” project shares the same vision and has already begun addressing some of the issues we identified. Therefore, rather than starting a new project, we decided to contribute to this existing initiative.
We are sharing this board to help guide the selection of potential next steps for the project, encouraging further research and design actions.
