We are working on a standard for wallet based payments at https://openpayments.guide (the formal spec is in the works).

The objective is to allow wallets to participate in a payment without the need to expose any credentials outside the wallet but also to allow for 3rd-parties to be delegated access to the wallet with fine-grained control which unlocks a myriad interesting use cases. Think of Open Payments as a simpler leaner version of Open Banking that makes no assumptions about the underlying payment rails or methods available and is designed to be used globally, not within a single jurisdiction.

The Interledger Foundation is working on an open source implementation of the protocol in the Rafiki project.
