At present the 'Proofing Task' box with instructions to the author is left blank, but journals are likely to have the same things that they ask for each author / proofreader to check at this stage, so adding in template text would be massively helpful to speed up this stage. An auto-filled template text that can then be tweaked as needed and sent by the editor would be very useful here, as well as the ability to update this for each individual journal (rather than one fixed auto-text across all journals). Some suggested text for the basic template:
Dear {proofreader name},
Your article has now been typeset and is ready for proofreading. Please carefully check the typeset files, including both the PDF and XML (web) versions, and mark any final minor corrections required as clear, unambiguous instructions to the typesetter as comments directly on the PDF. Please note that this will be your final chance to request any changes to these files prior to publication. Once you have checked the files, please upload your corrected PDF file, or mark the task as complete if no further corrections are required, by the date specified. Thank you for your help,
Best wishes,
{editor name}
