According to the source code of the openSUSE wiki page

<meta name="generator" content="MediaWiki 1.27.5"/>

the wiki still uses the unsupported MediWiki version 1.27 from 09/2018. The most recent version is 1.34.1.

Are there any plans on updating the wiki?

I'm not sure. @cboltz do you know if any heroes plan on updating the wikimedia version?

We use LTS version of MediaWiki to minimize maintenance efforts. Currently it is 1.31.7

@guoyunhe Thanks for the heads up. What I see from https://en.opensuse.org/Main_Page, it still uses version 1.27.5.

@nodeg , yes. I mean we need to upgrade to 1.31.7.

I'm aware of this, and it's on my TODO list since quite a while - but unfortunately several other things (partially heroes-related, partially completely different) came up that were more urgent :-/

Can I help in any way here?

  1. branch the wikii repository
  2. upgrade all the packages to a supported version (resp. search for alternatives)
  3. setup a test-VM, where these new RPMs can be deployed
  4. check the upgrade by using a dump of the productive DB

Beside step 4, where you need a current enough DB dump, there is nothing in the way that would block anyone.
