Subject: Issue with Executing BORIS Program

Hello,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is min young kim and I am currently working on developing a behavioral scale for animals. I am interested in using your software (BORIS) to assist with this research, so I have been trying to install and test it.

1. Issue:

   • I have downloaded and installed the BORIS software, including Python and all the necessary files and software. I am using the latest version (as per this link).
   • I attempted to run the start_boris.py file using Python, but no window appears and the program does not start.
   • I have followed instructions from the GitHub repository, YouTube tutorials, and official documentation, but the issue persists.

2. Steps I've Taken:

   • Python Script Execution: I used the python start_boris.py command to try and execute the program, but no GUI window appears.
   • Visual Studio: I also tried running start_boris.py in Visual Studio, but again, no window appears.
   • GitHub and YouTube References: I have carefully reviewed installation guides and steps provided on GitHub and YouTube but was unable to resolve the issue.

3. Environment Information:

   • Operating System: Windows 10 (or specify your OS)
   • Python Version: Installed Python 3.x
   • BORIS Version: Latest version (please specify the version you installed)
   • BORIS Installation Type: Setup version or portable (specify the installation type)

4. Questions:

   • Could you please help me understand why the program is not launching properly and guide me through potential solutions?
   • I attempted to check the program's log file (boris.log), but it seems no log file is being generated. Are there any additional steps I should take to troubleshoot this issue?
