time and notification support

i have mac os, and i would like to add a time to the task and have it notify me when it is due, with a button to complete if it's possible, thank you.

Yes, but I would have to add 2 different due dates for the same task as the 2 plugins don't share the same format.
Also, the author of this plugin still needs to add a setting screen for it to work uphy/obsidian-reminder#5, maybe on next release.

I'm not planning on using the 2 plugins together anyway, the type of tasks that needs notifications aren't the ones that I used "obsidian-tasks" for. I was just requesting the same feature on multiple related plugins to see which one sticks. Though, It would be nice to have them working together.

I would also like to see a notification added to obsidian-tasks. Personally I believe that having a task management system without a notification option is quite lacking. Using obsidian-reminder would be fine if they shared the same date format but having to use two different date formats on the same task seems overly complex. Is there a possibility to implement the functionality directly?

If you enable the first setting with the distinguish between reminder date and due date then you'll have the reminder on the due date directly. However, given that the due date doesn't include a due time, the reminder will appear (by default) at 9am (defined in the reminder plugin settings). You can check the reminder plugin guide.

I don't think it's really necessary, given that you can accomplish the same feature with a Quickadd command. If you're interested, I have made 3 commands

the recurring task with reminder is formatted like this

of course, one is without the recurrence emoji and the other without the reminder emoji

I have however requested a better support for reminder plugin when completing recurring task, check this discussion.

In addition to the QuickAdd plugin, one may also use the text expander espanso to define rules for quickly inserting tasks and/or reminders.

Could you maybe add a note about the specific syntax when using both plugins together? I just spent a few hours trying to wrangle them to work together and it turns out you have to have the recurrence rule exactly in between the custom alarm emoji datetime and the calendar emoji time.

This is the only way to have a recurrent reminder at a specific time. It would be really nice if I could just directly add a time component to main task date and have Tasks delegate that to reminder plugin if it's available or just silently ignore it like it already does if it's not.

We will at some point allow dates to have optional times - and there are other requests for that.

However, we will not add built-in notification support to Tasks.

This request falls within a set of areas that we have decided not to support in Tasks.

• Document that time-tracking, productivity tracking, pomodoros, notifications etc are out-of-scope for this plugin #2721
