Describe the bug.

This happens on some Linux distributions, namely Debian. This is a known cupy issue (cupy/cupy#8654) and has been fixed, but has not yet been included in a release.

This has been fixed in cupy, and the conda package has been updated.
Thanks to @jakirkham for helping push this one over the finish line.
