#1096 has NOT been resolved.
I'm still facing the exact same problem, even after blocking WhatsApp in dashboard, it's still working.

I had a similar issue, not sure why, but changing to the OISD list fixed the issue for me.

nextdns/services#5 says "I now state unequivocally that blocking mmx-ds.cdn.whatsapp.net blocks WhatsApp resources necessary for www.whatsapp.com & web.whatsapp.com"
