Feedback from the SGCI usability study (phase 2)

Severity: 2

  • The breadcrumb of this page should be CHEESEHub/Catalog to be consistent with other pages.
  • "Choose an application below to configure" is not a common way to phrase the call of action. "Choose an application below" or "Add an application" would be enough.
  • None of the users in the previous study noticed that they could switch between grid view and list view.
  • The import and create button don't seem to fit into the catalog page very well as the current focus user group are learners. It would be more suitable to add an “Add application” button on the menu and move the upload feature there. Also, the consistency between the “+Create” button and “Add Application” title needs to be improved.
  • Further, users would need more instruction on the create process such as who is allowed to upload an app and what will happen after they add an app.

Important bits to keep in mind going forward with CDDR:

  • The import and create button don't seem to fit into the catalog page very well as the current focus user group are learners. It would be more suitable to add an “Add application” button on the menu and move the upload feature there. Also, the consistency between the “+Create” button and “Add Application” title needs to be improved.
  • Further, users would need more instruction on the create process such as who is allowed to upload an app and what will happen after they add an app.
