The currently released NPM package works, but it causes dependency errors with recent versions of Reacts. The errors can be suppressed, but it is not convenient.

Any plans on releasing a new react-element-replace version with a bumped version of React?

Not sure if the original author is with us anymore, but if anybody has the same needs, there is now @gapotchenko/react-element-replace package that covers bugs, fixes and package updates. The project page is https://github.com/gapotchenko/react-element-replace.
