In the searchbar, going from list search to single search clears input

When using the searchbar, multiple genes can be entered. When more than one is entered, the view changes from an auto-complete to a list view. When using backspace to remove elements from the search until only one should be left, the search changes back to the auto-complete view. When changing back to the auto-complete view however, the search bar is cleared, instead of being left with the one element that was not removed.
