Border around markers

@mohamedmansour once asked me whether it is possible to add a border around the profile pictures like it's done e.g. in Google Latitude. Indeed, it is possible:

However, I'm not very satisfied with its looks. But I'm not very good at Photoshop magic, either, so this is the best I got so far. The Border-image itself looks like this:

Maybe we should think about in general whether to add such a border or not (and if yes, is there someone who is good at designing this?). Again, from a technical point of view, it's no problem at all.

I am thinking about something, sometimes there are more than one person hanging out in the same location, we need to some how think of more UI changes. One idea that comes to mind is having a number stating how many people in that location and the hover will be dynamic based on the user? We need to support multiple hangouts in a single location.

I don't mind that border image, looks kinda cool, what do others think?
