Is there a way to get the current hovered element in registerHoverProvider?

I want to show a custom popover when hovering a word with decorations, since the built in popover can't be used for buttons etc

Is there a way to get the current hovered element in the editor? I need it to open the bootstrap popover on it...or i could track the mouse coordinates and set those for the popover position...any suggestion to make this in a less cumbersome way?

well i ended up using the document mousemove event to check if the mouse is inside the decorations.
attaching an event listener for mouseover on the decorations didn't work because of their z-index in respect to the editor
