Error code mapping

Hi! I have in slurmd.log a bunch of exited with status with codes like 0x8e00 and 0x0009
for 0x8e00 i assume that is actually 008e, and for 142 i found

575:        die 142 "Watchdog timer unable to terminate hung NHC process ${NHC_PID#-}."
725:trap 'die 142 "Script timed out${CHECK:+ while executing \"$CHECK\"}." ; exit 142' 14

but would be possible to have a mapping for code to meaning for error codes? or at least print error codes in the same metric that is found in the actual code? is quite confusing to code the return/exit code in decimal but print the error code in hex...
