So:

| Column 1              | Column 2 |
| :-------------------- | -------: |
| Text                  |    1,000 |
| Some much longer text |    2,000 |

Rather than:

| Column 1 | Column 2 |
| :---- | ----: |
| Text | 1,000 |
| Some much longer text | 2,000 |

The former will be easier to read and check by eye.
