DS203 customized firmware by Gabriel Valky DS203 is a nice open source oscilloscope. And this is an attempt to design improved GUI for the scope offering rich functions than the original not-so-user-friendly firmware. The source code is in C++ for better code organisation and it is possible to compile it on Windows and Linux machine. For speeding up the design process, you can compile this application as native Win32 app, this offers you the possibility to test new features on PC before final upload to the DS203 device. For windows users, there is a Visual Studio 2005 project file (Build/desktop_win32). For compiling the firmware for ARM Cortex M3 target device, there is a script in "Build" folder (arm_win32 for win32 platform, arm_linux for linux platform) For owners of DS203 that would like to try this firmware: 1. download hex file from Bin/APP_G251.hex 2. power on your oscilloscope while holding the first button 3. on device's display, there should be displayed "DFU tool" and a new USB disk should appear in "My computer" 4. copy the hex file to your oscilloscope 5. after successful upload, on the USB disk will disconnect and reconnect again. Sometimes it will show some error message during uploading (don't worry, the computer has probably uploaded the file successfully, there is probably some bug in the DFU program) 5. turn off 6. turn on For developers that want to build the firmware, but don't want to use github: 1. download whole repository: https://github.com/gabonator/DS203/zipball/master 2. follow instructions in /Man/ folder For developers that would like to participate in this project: 1. I am new to git, so here is your turn to clone the repository, make branches and then tell me how to review your changes and patch my repository with them… Controls: For controlling the oscilloscope, first two buttons are used as enter/exit and both cursor keys (don't know whats the correct name of that slidable buttons) are used for moving up/down and changing values. GUI Tree: MainWindow - Input - Channel 1 (Analog Input) - Enabled [Yes/No] - Coupling [AC/DC/GND] - Resolution - Probe - V. Position - Colour [RGB] - Channel 2 (Analog Input) - (the same as above) - Channel 3 (Digital Input) - Enabled - Polarity (for displaying the signal inverted) - V. Time resolution will not probably correspond to the displayed information on Input/time panel. Scrolling and investigating whole 4K point waveform. Trigger level and edge trigger should work, Trigger time shift not implemented yet. Core Todo list: Custom LCD driver and new font - flipping the display upside down, rewrite the drawing functions to use "goto xy function" only when necessary, try to draw everything in rectangular blocks (much faster) Finish CWnd class - implementation of modal dialogs, preventing of overdrawing from underlying windows, delayed screen redraw (Invalidate currently calls the OnPaint function, Invalidate should only set some flag and drawing process should be done later) to achieve better and faster key response. Constructors of globally instantiated classes are not called. This problem disallows me to use global classes, every class has to be placed in some function. (See Application.cpp and function Run(). Probably the linker is not configured correctly. Some GCC guru needed. Maintain some notation on file names, rename files and use correct names in includes for linux users. Compatibility with Mac OSX using http://pixhawk.ethz.ch/wiki/imu_toolchain/sourcery toolchain. Use makefile or applescript for the building process?
