Do not use sys.exit(1) because it is very difficult to debug and if the plugin crashes, gedit crashes too

Hi Rufus125. Thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to fix these bugs anytime soon because I don't have any linux-based distro currently installed on my machine, but feel free to fix them and send a pull request.
