Validating a nested model using @requestBody in a controller

I'm trying this suggestion to validate a Contact model inside a User model, but I'm getting a

Error: Property User.contact does not have "type" in its definition

import {Entity, model, property} from '@loopback/repository';

// User
@model()
export class User extends Entity {
  @property({
    type: 'string',
    required: true,
  })
  name: string;

  @property({
    type: Contact,   //  👈   Error: Property User.contact does not have "type" in its definition
    required: true,
  })
  contact: Contact;
}

// Contact
@model()
export class Contact extends Entity {
  @property({
    type: 'string',
    required: true,
    default: 'phone',
  })
  type: string;
}

I want to be able to validate at REST layer using @requestBody in a controller.
