The 5% will eventually be split with the apps. See here: #43 (comment) Note that apps have the ability to add a wallet as a collect revenue recipient, which is what apps like Hey, Focalize, and others do. Orb also adds an additional 5% on the buyer side. So if you post from Hey, and someone collects on Orb, there are already 15% fees (5% Hey, 5% Protocol, 5% Orb). I'd argue that these fees are already ridiculously too high and the last thing we need are more fees. |

Lens has grown significantly in the past year with a great increase in collects and mirrors, but most importantly revenue. The majority of Lens revenue comes from the minting of new protocols. Some portion of these profile minting is given to the applications if they are minted from the client website. Applications, being the heart of the Lens ecosystem as they tailor the experience of users, need further expansion of their revenue streams.
As far as I can tell, Lens receives about 5% of all collects on Lens as revenue. Applications do not receive anything from collects, unless users are kind enough to allocate to these treasuries. I believe there should be a protocol fee of 2.5% added atop the 5% for All Clients. The better the experience of the users and collects on a given application the higher their revenue on their application. This 2.5% can be managed by the application any way they see fit.
I would like to get some feedback on this. My goal here is to grow the ecosystem.
