Analytics for Dataviewer, Stories and Catalog? #16
Comments
i just made some changes to the catalog which will allow us to track individual feedstock cards. now users should be able to share links to individual cards (for example: https://catalog.leap.columbia.edu/#noaa-coastwatch-geo-polar-sst). these changes should be enough for us to get some metrics from Google analytics in the meantime. i'll confirm whether this is working as expected or not by next week |
Amazing! Is there a way to get a "share" button that creates such a link? |
Done! the latest deployment has a "share" button which copies the link to user's clipboard |
it appears this isn't working as expected :(. i'm not sure if i've done something wrong but Google doesn't seem to record events associated with the anchors. I found this stackoverflow comment which seems to confirm my suspicion.
i'll investigate to see if there's any workaround |
This is somewhat related to leap-stc/leap-stc.github.io#67. I think it will be very useful for us to have some metrics of who uses the catalog/dataview/stories and how.
The simplest metric would probably be visits to each site.
But in particular for the catalog, I would love to be able to tell which datasets are most visited/copied/shared. Is this achievable together with leap-stc/data-management#136 @andersy005 ?
