Any plan for Casper 2.x? #130
Comments
I really want to... I had originally planned to match the development cadence with the Ghost team to keep this project up-to-date, however between work and new projects I just don't have the time needed to create and maintain another large theme repo. Realistically I don't see any new updates to this repo or a new project to mirror Casper v2. If anything I have vague plans to create an automated tool that will convert Ghost themes to WP themes automatically, still debating the feasibility of this, though. If you are feeling brave and wish to attempt to update this project with the current state of the Ghost theme, I'll happily merge it and grant you admin rights 👍 |
I think ghost theme uses grid based design which this theme isn't using it would be great if you can add grid support just like original theme have |
I really like the look of Casper, but am not sure given what you said in 2018 that it's a great idea for me to use it for my wordpress.org blog. I'd really like to find something like Casper that's compatible with the latest version of Wordpress, and that's likely to be maintained into the future. It doesn't have to be free. Do you have any advice for me? Am I wrong—could Casper work for me? Would you recommend a framework (like Genesis or something) that could enable me to do something like Casper? Would you recommend another similar theme? |
Here in 2020, I'm still using this theme occasionally. I don't have any reason to believe it has any security issues, it's isn't showing any performance problems, and it hasn't fallen apart yet. It's a pretty simple theme, so there isn't much that can fail. However, there are a LOT of features that WordPress has added in a few years (Gutenburg/Block editor is the big one) and this theme doesn't take advantage of any new WP features. For a simple use-case, I'd say it's still fine to use. |
Thank you for responding! I think it's hard for someone like me to actually know whether what I have in mind is a simple use-case or not. It's funny how often the one (to me) apparently simple tweak I want somehow is the one bell or whistle that a more tecchy person will say is hard to achieve for some reason. This is one of the difficulties of being a "client" type of person. So I think I probably have to go with something that does take advantage of Gutenberg, etc.—I might need precisely those things. Thanks for making Casper, and I hope you do something like it again in future! People like me would happily pay. |
The new Casper 2.x is great too, any plan?
