I asked the Mozilla Support Forum if this
is possible in Firefox.
Here's the function I seek:
Is there a setting that
when I select a Firefox tab,
that mouse click also unmutes the tab
and mutes all unselected tabs?
When I select a tab I would like to see and hear only that tab.
One single mouse click should select a tab, unmute that tab
and mute all the other tabs, all at the same time.
That way, Firefox would behave like a tv set
and each tab would be a different channel.
Selecting a tab would be equivalent to selecting
a channel on a tv.
Urls that might not contain sound
should also be available in the set of tabs
and treated the same as urls that do have sound.
example, my hotmail inbox.
Of course I would be responsible for choosing and
controlling a web page in each tab
That's about it.
It would be wonderful to have this function.
I'm surprised that it's not available in Firefox.
It seems to me to be the most simple use of tabs.
I certainly don't enjoy having to click on more than
one tab in order to select just one, as well as
dealing with the muting and unmuting of each tab.
Right now it takes at least 3 mouseclicks to
select a tab and it's sound. Too much. One click
should do it all.
Plus it's strange that multiple audio streams can play
over each other by default. I never want to hear two
different songs or two separate different conversations
at the same time, ever. But it happens all the time.
I'm looking forward to following this issue
and to see if someone has the answer
