Multi-cart games on Android / libretro?

I just started playing the PICOwesome collection via the libretro core. Thanks for making this possible, @jtothebell , I'm having a great time :)

Unfortunately I'm still struggling to make multi-cart games work; they crash with this error. I tried to find an explicit rule in the code where the mentioned directory p8carts is expected to be on Android and/or libretro, but I couldn't find a hint. Should it be /p8carts at OS root-level as stated by the error message? This would be difficult on Android since root-level directories cannot be accessed on non-rooted devices.

Would you have any idea? I have the full version of Kalikan available and I'd be happy to debug or support in another way.
