Sudo doesn't work if the username has a dot (or tilde) in its name:

Steps to reproduce:

  • Username: "john.doe"
  • sudoers: yes

/etc/sudoers.d/john.doe gets created. File names with a dot or tilde are being ignored, user appears to not be in sudoers list.
