BTG Core (aka Bitcoin Gold Core, BTCGPU) is the original BTG client and it builds the backbone of the network. It is based on Bitcoin Core. It downloads and, by default, stores the entire history of BTG transactions, which includes Bitcoin transactions from 2009 to 2017 (currently more than 100 GBs); depending on the speed of your computer and network connection, the synchronization process can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more.
You can find BTG Core downloads on the BTCGPU Github pages and the official Bitcoin Gold web site.
The following are some helpful notes on how to run BTG Core on your native platform.
Unpack the files into a directory and run:
bin/bitcoin-qt
(GUI) orbin/bgoldd
(headless)
Unpack the files into a directory, and then run bitcoin-qt.exe.
Drag BTG Core to your applications folder, and then run BTG Core.
