Source maps for minified bundle intentionally removed?

There used to be (external) source maps for the minifed bundle:

//# sourceMappingURL=webvr-polyfill.min.js.map

Were those intentionally removed with the build-system changes a while ago?

I ran into some issues with source maps before when switching over to rollup, but worth a shot again with something like rollup-plugin-sourcemaps, although with CardboardVRDisplay being pulled out, I wonder if this is as valuable..
