make it move

new motors

Bought new motors with the same axle dimensions, though probably better gear ratio.

electric connection

  • solder the wire connectors

electric test

  • connect and make them move

physical mount

  • design motor mounts to connect to the modular chasis
  • print it 🖨️

connect wheels

  • make the robot move ♿

The wheel situation

Old mecanum wheels have a lot of roller friction

  • as each roller has only one axis point in the middle
  • adds up friction

Try to save the old ones

  • do you want to even? - try to add shrinking wires on the wheels

Design new wheels

  • choose how

    • in Blender
      • possibly re-create rednelb - openscad blender implementation
      • than use the generator for OpensSCAD
    • in openSCAD
      • adjust and use the generator from thingiverse i used for the old design
  • choose design

    • probably o-o-o type
    • probably modular (i already have the design on paper somewhere)
      • separate core connectable to the aluminium hubs i have
      • separate connectable roller umbrella ribs
      • separate wheels
        • with diameter allowing the shrink-tube application
  • create the model

    • wow, just this easy style
  • print it all wheels 🖨️

    • 4 hubs
    • 4x7 roller ribs
    • 4x7x(1or3) wheels
  • join it all together

  • profit 💰
