Session Schedule Discussion #8
Comments
I'll go first. I happened to attend both India and US sessions back to back. There was no overlap. However, since we overshot the India session by about 15 minutes, the gap between the India and US sessions was just 15 minutes (of what would otherwise have been 30 minutes). I'm also open to moving the slot to 8:30pm-9:30pm. This gives 1 hr between the India and US sessions; and sufficient break for dinner as well :). I personally find having both sessions on the same day (Thursday) useful, as opposed to different days. I'd also like to highlight that we may have to adjust the time-slot if the presenter of a talk is uncomfortable with the time-slot. This is on a per-session, per-talk basis. I'm open to a session being held completely off-slot in case a key presenter simply can't make at all. This would be a special case where we'd float info about the change-of-schedule waaaaay beforehand, such that everyone is comfortable. |
If not overpassed the India session then I don't think it would be a problem between two sessions, but since its a study group and there will be questions and suggestions, so there is a high percentage chance that sessions are going to be overstretched most often and having a very hard time limit would dilute the foundational purpose of creating this group I believe. Yes, there has to be moderation of the time, but every time putting a timer check on each meeting is not very much feasible and good approach too. |
Thanks for your feedback @ankur-anand Do you have a personal opinion on the timeslot? - Please feel free to suggest what works best for you We'll collect feedback from as many individuals as possible and try to fix a slot that works best for the majority. |
@pshirali I'm ok with both the way. 😄 |
I would vote for a different day. |
+1 for 8:30... The only other suitable day seems Tuesday / Wednesday if we want to do it within the week. |
I would vote for 10:30 PM IST on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. |
This thread invites views & suggestions regarding the session schedule for StudyGroup-India.
The current schedule is
every-second-Thursday
at 21:00 hrs (9pm) IST. The typical session length as a whole is 1 hour; within which all topics of the session are covered.One of the aims of the StudyGroup-India session is that it should not overlap with the
GoStudyGroup
session run by @arschles, @carolynvs and team. (https://gophersource.com/study-group/). This takes place every Thursday at 10am Pacific; which currently translates to 10:30pm IST (considering PDT, which is GMT -7:00). With PST (which is not currently observed), it would be 11:30pm IST.Because every individual is affected independently by what would be an
ideal
time-slot for the StudyGroup-India session, please highlight your concerns in the comments below. Please upvote if you agree with existing comments. We'll use this thread to fine-tune ourideal
schedule.The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered:
