Roadmap 2021

For any project, the 'interest' on it grows with how well it keeps its Roadmap published and delivers on it.

With that in mind, even though its a bit late, here are the things I want to list as a 'probable' roadmap for glusterfs project kadalu.io would be interested in.

• Simple-Quota (Simple quota: based on namespace #1750)
• Better way of management
• All workload support - (ie, our focus is k8s usecases, where the workload on storage is generally DB or similar, so we want to make sure this works).
• Better monitoring.

Good to have for us, but are not picking up ourselves right now because of capacity!

• Network layer (multiple changes here)

  • gRPC based
  • RDMA support
  • native export of metrics data

• cluster based testcases

• Data tiering (more of archival usecases)

• Any performance improvement for NVMe usecases (with 100Gbps cards).

• docker based releases!

• reflink support at directory level, so we can provide much better backup solutions.

NOTE: This is the plan as it stands now, will update the progress or change in plans in next 6 months.
