Garcinia indica is called as Kokum. That is its original name. By calling it Goa butter, we are misguiding the readers about its origin. Please stay away from such generalisations. I think there´s been a mistake with the ID of the specimen. Given the inflorescence morphology and leaf form and arrangement I suggest it´s a member of Vaccinium. Under current taxonomy of the genus it should be assigned to Bejaria aestuans L. but this wide distribution and highly variable species is going under revision. data content Under review US
