Please add Jabra Speak 510: fw 2.25 #1
Comments
I've pinged Jabra about this today. |
Thanks, Jabra hasn't kept any FW uptodate here fro quite some time. |
Seems Jabra has forgotten about fwupd ? |
Created 2 PRs for 510 and 810 |
There's now a v2.32 update available: |
Hello Guys, could reshare the firmware version 2.25 please? It is not available anymore on Jabra website. I would really appreciate if you could make a dump if possible. Thanks in advance. The FW version I need is for a unit marked as 100-43100000-60. |
The 2.25 is too old by now. You can checkout my PR an build it, possibly adjust it for 2.32 or later first |
Hello Joakim,
As much as I appreciate your response I don’t really know what to do. I am not that experienced in that. Not sure where to start and what to do my Friend.
Regards

Hi Jakim again,
Thanks so much for your help. Actually I attempted the update on a Win comp. In fact on two different comps with Win 10 on them and all recoveries failed. Do you think that if I did it on a virtual machine, it would work?
Thanks

hmm, I got Jabra Direct on my wife's computer to update my Jabra devices and it just works. Or you can try build one from here and install with fwupd:
Jabra-SPEAK_510-2.31.cab is the result |
Just pushed 2.32 to the repo |
But if your device is bricked I think you need to contact Jabra support. |
Hi Joakim,
Thanks so much for your support. I guess the last option is the only one available for me. No matter what I do, the update stops at around 39% and refuses to move further giving an error which I published on GitHub.
Thanks so much for your efforts to help. I really appreciate it. I know that there is also a way to do it in Linux via dfu-tool but my knowledge doesn't reach that far.
Have a great weekend my Friend.

Hi Joakim,
When you say that I need to “build one” how do I do it? I am not a programmer, I know nothing about compiling, building etc., except for some basic user knowledge. Do I need to build it in Linux using console? Or some software for Windows. I am so sorry to be so green in this. I can imagine that it can be frustrating to try to explain something that is relatively simple and easy to you, to a person who knows nothing about it.
When I posted my request I thought that there would be someone who has a dump of the 2.25 version i.e. the version I had before I attempted the update to 2.32. I though that if had the 2.25 version (which is not available on Jabra website for download) I could revert the unit to its original state but I guess my way of thinking is not correct, right?

I have not idea if you will have better luck a virtual machine, sorry.
Or you can try build one from here and install with fwupd:
git clone https://github.com/joakim-tjernlund/jabra-firmware.git
cd jabra-firmware
git checkout -b speak_510 origin/speak_510
cd 2.31/
make
Jabra-SPEAK_510-2.31.cab is the result

You will "build" a firmware package with Jabra FW 2.32(named Jabra-SPEAK_510-2.32.cab) suitable for fwupd to install. |
I attached a gzipped FW file. gunzip it and try installing it. |
Hi Joakim,
I can’t believe that you spend so much time to help me. Thank you so much.
I did unpack the file you sent me and I tried to install it with Jabra Direct Firmware updater from Jabra Direct version 3.12 and unfortunately I encounter the same issue in the same point during flashing. No docking station used. Jabra plugged directly to USB (all of them ☹).
I am not sure where I could get hold of the older version of FW e.g. 2.25. Maybe flashing it backwards would help? The funny thing is that the unit worked until the attempted update to version 2.32 using the latest Jabra Direct software.

You are welcome. Maybe something is off with 2.32, I know i did flash 2.31 at one time using fwupd and that worked fine. |
I have just tried version 2.31 which you kindly sent me… Still no luck. The update process still fails in the same place i.e. around 39%. I start wondering in the update didn’t mess up the hardware? I raised a ticket with Jabra support 3 days ago but no response as yet. I as really puzzled what the issue is?
Immediately after the “unfortunate” update I saved Jabra Direct Diagnostic Report (as attached in this e-mail) but having really no clue about programming and coding, I can’t do much with it. Maybe this can shed some light onto what the issue is?
