Ideas for snapping discoverability?

When implementing snapping and grids, we should make it optional but discoverable. I wanted to see if you guys have any ideas about where to place this setting. Figma turns it on by default, and if you need to disable it for something, I don't know if it supports that. Inkscape does it here but I don't like it:

Indeed, there must be a toggle button.
I like how Inkscape works by letting the user to choose what snapping features to turn on/off apart from the global snap toggle.

I don't like it. It's hard to find and the options are a mess by default. But it's better than something buried in a preferences dialog...

I think you haven't tried Illustrator... that's a real rigid snapping feature, so, after seeing that one Inkscape one is awesome. BTW, is there anyone you like to have a look at it?

I have never used it... could you do some screenshots and explain pros and cons of Figma's snapping features so that we can compare?

You can see this issue I created in inkscape repo comparing the default snapping of both software: https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues/278

Figma also doesn't show you a huge menu with lots of options at once, but I don't know how it does snapping settings. Most people there don't need to disable the feature because it's subtle enough so that if you don't need it, you don't have to use it. Inkscape covers lots of different types of users too, so there's that.

Where do you implement snapping in Friction?

As far as I know masking is already possible, check out layers blending modes.

I would love someone to start first with snapping to grid (so that a grid system should be developed) and other elements snapping.
