Creating a compendium with multiple types of items is inconsistent in what options are shown in the Compendium Browser.
Step-by-step process:
I made TestCompendium, making the items TestRace, TestHeritage and TestFeat.
TestRace and TestHeritage were selectable from the start, but TestFeat could not be found anywhere in the Feats section. TestCompendium was nowhere to be found in the Settings > Packs or Sources sections.
After moving TestFeat to its own compendium, I was able to enable TestFeatCompendium in Packs, which made TestFeat visible in the browser.
I then moved the contents of TestCompendium (TestRace, TestHeritage) into TestFeatCompendium.
Then in TestCompendium I added an Ability (Action) and Consumable (Equipment) and could not find them in the Compendium Browser.
Again, I could not find TestCompendium in Packs or Sources.
I made another, "FinalCompendium" also with an Ability and Consumable. The same issue occurred.
Is this a known technical quirk, a bug, or user error? I have provided images for this issue.
