HT3D and 1D heat transfer

I need to model a square steel column protected with plasterboard. I used HT3D for the steel column, and I created plasterboard layer obstructions touching the steel obstructions. For the plasterboard, I used 1D as well as HT3D, but in both cases I get the error 424: HT3D thin solids must have at least one face exposed in the direction 2. Is there any other way that I can model my case? I highly appreciate your advice. Thanks in advance

This configuration is not allowed. You have, I think, a thin 3-D obstruction abutting another obstruction.

Dear Dr. Kevin, in my case, I'm interested in modelling heat transfer to a 2mm thick steel square hollow section through a 10mm plasterboard protection. Any suggestions to work around this considering the current limitations of fds 3DHT?

Thanks a lot, Dr. Kevin. It is working now when I assigned a Material and the insulation surf to the single obstruction. Just one last query, I want to measure the temperature of the steel surface at the steel-insulation interface. For that, I used an inside wall temperature device at 0.1001m(my insulation thickness = 0.1m). Apparently, the results are ok. That approach is correct am I right Dr. Kevin?

0.1 m would work too because the steel surface temperature will be the same as the insulation temperature at this interface. In other words, there is no discontinuity in the temperature profile.
