Any more places?
One idea is to have a special group in the inventory file where one can add deleted hosts (like if they get renamed or decommissioned). Then have a playbook that remove the nodes from:

  • pdsh / /etc/machines
  • dns/hosts file
  • known_hosts (
  • remove the unused sshd hostfiles
  • got more details / places where one can delete the hosts from? - comment on this issue
