Annotation button does not appear in obsidian version 1.5.3 (latest)

If I use the hotkeys I get the following response
No annotator property present. I tried using the both the data view links and the frontmatter link per your documentation.

Hi i Am new to obsidian using version 1.6.5 on windows 11. I am unable to see the annotate option in the side bar menu.
